Grassy Narrows protest gains celebrity support

Grassy Narrows protestors and their supporters gathered at Ontario’s legislature demanding the government finally act on the recent and recurring recommendations to clean the mercury from their water.

The Ontario government is expressed gratitude yesterday, along with understanding and sympathy for the Grassy Narrows First Nation, but made no commitments to clean up mercury contamination.

Earlier in the week, several celebrities added their support to a call by the David Suzuki Foundation to “clean up Ontario’s toxic legacy at Grassy Narrows”, including Margaret Atwood, Rachel McAdams, Jane Fonda.
