It’s billed as the one of the biggest outdoor events in the country, and for the agricultural community in Canada, and north-eastern USA, it’s their biggest event and party.
The International Plowing Match and Rural Expo is expected to draw over 100,000 visitors to the 2015 edition which began on the 22nd and continues to the 26th of September.

It’s being held this year near the small eastern Ontario community of Finch. Well over 1,000 volunteers will also be on hand to help the vast number of events and crowds of about 20,000 or more each day, move smoothly through the huge event..

In recognition of the 50th anniversary of Canada’s widely recognized red and white maple leaf flag, the parade marshall this year was Joan O’Malley, the Ottawa woman who stitched the first red-maple leaf Canadian flag.

There are all kinds of events from various ploughing competitions, sheep shearing, riding competitions and performances, music, food, tractors, marching bands, more tractors, auctioneering competitions, horse drawn ploughing, antique tractors and other vehicles, cooking demonstrations, heritage spinning demo, heritage plants, tractors, rodeo events and the list goes one.
The event site is over 1000 acres with hundreds of kiosks, displays, equipment manufacturers and more.
It is definitely one of the biggest annual events of any kind in Canada.
